Competition Horses
Banbury Sky
Banbury Sky is a 2007, grey, Irish Sport Horse gelding. Bred in England, Ben was sourced by Cooley Sport Horses and then imported to North America. “Ben” is the ideal modern day event horse by the Olympic KWPN show jumping stallion Verdi, out of an Irish thoroughbred mare. He possesses the desirable warmblood traits with a good percentage of thoroughbred blood making him an elite sport horse. Ben has competed up to the advanced level in eventing with Sam and has earned many top results in both Canada and the United States. Ben will be competing at the CIC/CCI*** level in 2017 with hopes of qualifying to represent Canada at major international competitions.
Hermione GS
Hermione GS is a talented, 2010, chestnut, trekehner mare bred by Galten Farms in Markham, Ontario. Hermione’s sire Aberdeen was a successful sport horse in both the dressage and hunter rings and her grand dam Aida was a grand prix show jumper competing internationally for Canada with Jim Elder. With Sam, Hermione currently competes at the training level in eventing and is a top prospect for the future.
Duke
Duke is 2008, chestnut, Canadian warmblood gelding. Duke is by the late VDL Ulando H, a very successful eventing and show jumping horse. Duke has competed up to the training level in eventing and after having a year off will be returning to the show ring in 2017.
Feelin Fly
Felix is a 2006, warmblood, thoroughbred cross gelding related to the famous trekehner stallion Abdullah who won Olympic gold and silver medals for the united states show jumping team. Felix is a fantastic jumper and his in your pocket personality makes him a barn favourite. He has competed successfully up to the preliminary level in eventing.
Rescue Horses
In the fall of 2012, Quill Point Farm became a forever home for horses rescued from the slaughter yard. With time and patience, these horses have all made impressive recoveries both physically and mentally and are now thriving on a daily basis in they’re new lives as sport horses and companions.
Nayva
Nayva is a stunning, black, Canadian cross mare. With Sam, she began competing at the lower levels of eventing in 2016. She is excelling in her new career as an event horse as she loves to work and connect with people. Nayva will soon be looking for a part boarder.
Maya
Maya is a beautiful, black, Canadian mare. She enjoys ground work, natural horsemanship, and light riding. Maya is very shy and quiet and feels most confident when she is working with people.
Riggs
Riggs is a 5 year old, Morgan cross gelding. He was rescued as just a one year old and has developed into a mature, albeit mischievous, handsome horse. Riggs traveled to Florida in the winter of 2016 to start his riding career and has been on a roll ever since. A super little jumper, he will be making his show debut in 2017.
Mimi
Mimi is 7 year old miniature mule. Mimi’s purpose in life is to provide us all with entertainment and make everyone’s day a little brighter.
Retired Competition Horses
Armon
Half thoroughbred, half Belgian, Armon is very special to us as he was our first horse. Armon is the grandson of secretariat, the greatest thoroughbred race horse of all time, and the great grandson of the famous Northern Dancer. Armon competed very successfully up to the CCI** level in eventing and represented Canada at the North American Young Rider Championships finishing 10 th individually, earning a spot on the Canadian Olympic team talent squad. Now retired from upper level eventing, Armon spends his days in the paddock with the young horses and taking our guests for trail rides.
Picasso
Picasso is a 1997 KWPN gelding. He is the oldest member of the family. He competed successfully up to the CIC** level in eventing before retiring to the lower levels. Now he is our top lesson horse and happily teaches our students how to ride.
My Carnival Spirit
“Talula” is a 2000, liver chestnut, Irish thoroughbred mare. She is by the advanced eventing sire Espiritou. Talula competed successfully up to the CCI* level and has taken countless riders up to the preliminary level. Talula is a very special mare as she has the unique ability to adapt to many different riders. Now retired to the lower levels she is enjoying teaching her riders the ropes of eventing and truly loves her job.
Adonis
Adonis is a Dutch warmblood gelding with many years experience as a top-level show jumper in the Netherlands. Adonis was imported to Canada as an upper level eventing prospect but unfortunately has a very rare immune disorder that requires him to live a low-key lifestyle. However, Adonis loves to work and his talent as a sport horse is undeniable. We will be looking to have him out and about at some local horse trials in 2017.
Freespeech
“Peace” is a 2005, American thoroughbred, mare with experience as an elite polo pony. After sustaining a back injury preventing her from continuing her polo career, she came to Quill Point to make the transition into an event horse. After much time and effort it was decided that her back injury is to prohibiting for a career as an upper level event horse so she now enjoys competing at the lower levels.
